Space Shuttle and NASA Transport for Academy

This Academy plastic model kit is a 1/288 scale representation of the Space Shuttle and its carrier aircraft, the Boeing 747. While the Space Shuttle is capable of traveling faster and farther than any other aircraft ever built, it relies on alternative means of transportation to move across the United States. This is because the Shuttle's large external booster rockets are essential for its launch, limiting its use to orbital and space flight missions.

The Shuttle itself is the size of a medium-sized jet airliner. To facilitate the transportation of the Shuttle, NASA obtained a specially modified Boeing 747 from American Airlines, designed to carry the Shuttle on top of its fuselage using a dedicated cradle system.

This model kit includes both the Space Shuttle and the Boeing 747 configured for flight. Both aircraft feature fully engraved panel lines, detailed landing gear and engine components, a stunning decal sheet, and accurate paint details.
